As a precocious child I started my artistic career painting on walls in my home. Eventually, I outgrew wall painting and moved onto to the serious study of art. In college I studied Ceramics and Photography. Most of my college mornings were spent covered in clay or in a dark room, then I would get dressed and go to work in a salon/gallery/spa, where I became fascinated by the world of beauty. In 1997 I landed a job as a professional makeup artist, which is when I truly found my calling. Makeup allows me to express all my artistic energy by drawing on my background study of art and it allows me to help women feel great about themselves. Because makeup is constantly changing and improving, I am always challenged to keep up with the newest trends and continue to build on my experiences. I have traveled around the world to study and to work with over 20 different lines. I enjoy all the opportunities my profession has to offer, from shooting a magazine cover, working on TV, to working with an amazing bride.
I owned Tracy Ewell Cosmetics & Skincare for nearly 8 years. My store was located in New Orleans in the heart of uptown. After surviving one of the country’s largest natural disasters (Katrina) I closed my store and moved to Atlanta. I re-opened my store inside of a hair salon called Rockit Salon, which is when Allure Magazine first found me. Rockit Salon eventually closed and I partnered with my best friend to open another store in Inman Park, Atlanta. After 2 years we closed our store because of the effects of the recession in Atlanta. Now I have moved back to my home town of New Orleans. It is the passion, the heart, and the people of this great city that spend their lives seeing beauty in everyday joys, that makes me most proud to be home again. I am traveling around the city working with old clients and new clients, one by one. I also joined the Makeup Union, Local 798 out of New York, so I can work in the film industry. I am excited about the next chapter and hope to see you soon.
